Everyone in their uniqueness must give their best
Malu Mpasinkatu has lived in Italy for over forty years and is the first professional sports director of African descent in Italy.
Born in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo on August 14, 1976, Malu speaks French, English, Spanish, and Lingala in addition to Italian.
Raised in Mondovì, where he graduated from high school, Malu came to Italy for family reunification.
He studied political science at the University of Turin, later becoming a columnist in the world of sports, which is his passion. A football market consultant, Malu works across the board with the media. As a columnist in sports, he works closely with Radio, TV, websites, and print media. In 2007, he became Head of the Foreign Market Of Cesena (Serie B) and from 2010 to 2011 he served as sports director of Catanzaro (Serie C).
Malu works both in Italy and in other countries, such as France, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, and Libya. From 2007 to 2012, he was the sports director of the national soccer, volleyball, and basketball teams of the Democratic Republic of Congo, his home country.
Malu is also interested in socio-cultural activities, trying to make his contribution in favour of integration and respect for human rights. She is very sensitive to issues concerning immigration, which is why she also collaborates with some intercultural associations.
“I feel like a citizen of the world but Italy is the country I love. It is a country with an old mentality but it has so much to give to humanity”.
Regarding his scientific-cultural contribution to Italy, Malu calls himself “a smuggler of positive values”. “Everyone in their uniqueness has to give their best. You do your work for yourself and also for others,” Malu adds.
The Italo-Congolese columnist loves his Africa, which he says he discovered as an adult. He appreciates Africa’s simplicity, pointing out that “with little, we live happily, while in the West we often create avoidable problems”. He would like an Africa with more hospitals and greater attention to Public Health, something he holds close to his heart.
