Aperitivo Migrante – 17 April, at Cecchi Point – h. 19.00
It is already April and time seems to be slipping away from us in these times of pressing and performing routines. For this reason, we propose a moment of relaxation in the spirit of Scienza Migrante 2.0. With spring in the air, an evening aperitif might be just what many of us are craving. How about joining us for an “Aperitivo Migrante”?
We keep on sharing on our website the stories of those who have decided to migrate to Italy for study, research or work reasons. During the aperitif you will have the chance to hear these stories directly from those who have experienced them.
When?
On 17 April 2025 – from 7 pm onwards
At “Cecchi Point” Neighbourhood House – Via Antonio Cecchi, 17
Once again, it will be a neighbourhood house that will host us. The Cecchi Point is a meeting place for the citizens of the Porta Palazzo and Aurora areas, a place full of initiatives conceived and realised both to respond to the needs of specific categories of the population and to stimulate the creativity and curiosity of all those who approach it.
A space where sociality and culture meet, an ideal place to welcome those who have decided to move to another continent in order to continue their education or to take advantage of job opportunities not available in their countries of origin. You will be able to listen to stories characterised on the one hand, by the passion for one’s own field of research, and on the other, by the richness of meeting cultures and sharing experiences.
But the “Aperitivo Migrante” will above all be an informal, interactive and sharing moment! The protagonists will tell their stories and finally test the audience with a quiz on a variety of topics related both to science and to anecdotes of their countries of origin!
The evening will include a free aperitif offered by the project with delicious food prepared by the fabulous kitchen of ‘La Piola Al Cecchi’. The evening will be hosted by Jordi and the duo Jack and Lo Smilzo, in collaboration with RKH studio.
On 17 April you will meet:
- Elsabiet Zarai Medhanie who, with her passion for architecture and adventures in discovering the Liberty style buildings of Turin, will take you into her gingilli and intrufolatò. At the same time, she will tell you about the architecture of her city of origin, Asmara, in Eritrea, where she studied the Italian language throughout her education and from where she misses a completely different conception of time.
- Justine Ohuma who always strives to improve and embrace change in life. She left Kenya years ago in search of professional opportunities that would make her feel fulfilled, and Turin chose her. Here, she is happy to have found her path in the complex world of International Cooperation, her field of specialization where her knowledge of four languages will surely be very useful!
- Nazar Bartosik who went from a PhD in Hamburg to a research grant in Turin in nuclear physics. Here, he works both on the statistical analysis of data from the Large Hadron Collider generated by particle collisions, and on smaller, interdisciplinary projects. He chose Italy primarily for the climate, and over the years, he has noticed interesting cultural differences with his home country, Ukraine.
- Shuyi Yang who since his early university years has focused on data analysis, first in the economic field, and then in Modeling Data Science, where he works on algorithms and statistical models. Today, he is specialized in artificial intelligence and believes in the beauty of cultural diversity, which he experiences firsthand through the interaction between Chinese, Italian, and Italo-Chinese cultures!
We look forward to seeing you there!
